The one they mention by name
The pool is saltwater, and it is why some people rebook.
“Lovely swimming pool” and “the pool was great” both turn up unprompted in reviews. It sits in the grounds behind the front block, away from the highway, with loungers. There is no lifeguard, so children need an adult with them.
We have not published a heating or seasonal-opening claim, because we do not have one we can stand behind. If you are booking specifically to swim, ring (02) 4945 2847 and ask — you will get a straight answer for the dates you want, not a hedge.

Free parking at your door
Pull up outside your room, open the door, carry your bag two metres. No lifts, no corridors, no parking station. It is the single most practical thing about a motor inn, and it matters most when you arrive late off the highway.
Barbecue area
An on-site barbecue for guests. Bring something back from the Belmont shops and cook it here rather than driving out again.
Guest laundry
Self-service laundry on site. If you are here for a week, working away or visiting someone in hospital, this is the facility that decides whether a stay is workable.

Fishing facilities
Lake Macquarie is across the road and people do come here to fish. Ask at reception about rinse-down and storage.

Rooms serviced every day. Cleanliness is the strongest single theme in our reviews and we intend to keep it that way.

What we do not have
There is no restaurant here. Here is where to eat.
Some listings for this property mention a restaurant. There is not one, and we would rather you knew now than at seven on a Friday night. What we do have is a kitchenette in every room and genuinely good food within a few minutes of the door.

The other two things we do not have
A lift. Upper-level rooms are reached by stairs, and there is no way around that in a two-storey building of this age.
24-hour reception. We cannot do after-hours check-in. One phone call before you set off solves it.
