Arrival & reception — please read
Check in from 2:00 pm. Ring us if you will be late.
Reception hours are the one thing guests tell us we got wrong, so we are not going to print a set of hours we might not meet. Here is the honest version instead.
- Before you set off
Ring if you will arrive after dark
Tell us roughly when you will get in and someone will be here with your key. It takes thirty seconds and it is the difference between a good arrival and a bad one. We cannot do after-hours check-in.
- From 2:00 pm
Turn in off the highway
The car park is on the lake side at number 749, with the sign on the roof. Reception is on the left under the balcony walkway.
- Two minutes
Ask for quiet, if quiet matters
If a room away from the highway end is free, this is the moment you get it. The booking engine has no field for it — a person does.
- Then
Move the car to your door
Every room parks directly outside. Free, on site, no reservation, no lifts and no corridors.
- By 10:00 am
Key back to reception
If you are away before the office opens, drop it through the slot in the door.

Driving here
Whichever way you are coming from.
From Sydney · 1 hr 39 min
North on the M1 for roughly 110 km. Take the Belmont / Swansea exit onto the Pacific Highway and continue north through Swansea and Blacksmiths. We are on the left at 749, just before Belmont proper, with the lake on your left.
From Newcastle · 23 min
South on the Pacific Highway through Charlestown and Gateshead. Past the Belmont shops, we are on the right at number 749, opposite the lake foreshore. If you reach Marks Point you have gone about a kilometre too far.
From Newcastle Airport · 38 min
Williamtown to Belmont South is a straight run south. There is no shuttle to the door — a taxi or rideshare is the practical option, or hire a car at the terminal.
Without a car
Regional trains reach Cardiff and Fassifern with bus connections to Belmont, and Newcastle Transport buses run this corridor. The beaches and the Fernleigh Track are genuinely doable without a car. The Hunter Valley is not.
Boats, trailers and EV charging — ask before you book
We have not published a boat-and-trailer parking policy or an EV charging claim, because we do not have one we can confirm. This is a lake town and getting that answer wrong wastes your day, so ring (02) 4945 2847 first and we will tell you exactly what is possible.
Where we actually are
Lake on one side, ocean on the other.
Belmont South sits on the strip of land between Lake Macquarie and the Pacific. In one morning you can swim in flat lake water, ride a rail trail through the bush and stand in the surf at Blacksmiths — and be back in time for a barbecue.
It also means we are on a highway. The Pacific Highway runs between us and the lake, and it is busy. Rather than leave you to discover that, we have written an honest guide to which of our rooms hear it and which do not.
